Allan, Thanks for educating all of us. All the broadcasts are great but this is my favorite. I loved the epilogue and just ordered all three of Sandor Katz's books!

Well, for heaven's sake, Julie, please order your book through the link at The Biodynamics Now! Podcast! If Michael's book imagine doesn't appear below the show notes, you can enter Amazon through any link on the show notes pages and any purchase you make during that entry will accrue a small rebate for The Biodynamics Now! Podcast. Believe me, while it's the thought that counts, we could use the money, too! ;-)

This is a great interview. After listening to this, as well as reading the excerpt from Michael Phillips book in 'Acres, USA' magazine, I'm putting his book on my must-read list. Ordinarily nothing would get me to buy a new book, I always buy used. But I may have to make an exception in this case!

I disagree with the goitergenic nature of brassica family veggies, fermented or not. I have 20+ years clinical experience in nutritional healing and Asian med theory. I am also very researched on thyroid problems and hypothyrodic myself. The entire brassica thyroid connection came from a study on rabbits and has very questionable scientific merit. Here is the info and references

Hello,

In the book, you talk about shelter for chickens and how you have a coop built on a dirt floor. There is a sentence in \Chapter 7: Manure Management in the Poultry House: The Joys of Deep Litter that says, "(If you have an existing building with a wood or concrete floor to use for poultry housing....You can still use deep litter to keep the henhouse sweet, with a couple of tweaks noted below.)" pg 81. However, I cannot find anything that specifically talks about these "tweaks" that can be made to an existing solid floor henhouse (I have one and am very interested in hearing what ideas you have). I was thinking that you would probably start with a bit of actual soil on the solid floor, followed by several inches of straw/leaves. Do you have any advise for me and/or can you direct me to a place in the book where it is talked about? I could not find it.

THANKS!
